WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO? Stay-cation or Drive-cation?

It’s Summertime! Kids are out of school and everyone is looking for something fun to do as a family. Do you stay in town for a day trip or do we plan to go to Austin, San Antonio, or Galveston?

Often families are opting to stay close to home and participate in leisure activities that allow them to sleep in their own bed at night or go to a nearby resort hotel that offers amenities where everyone can re-charge and have fun. Choices generally include museums, amusement parks, festivals, paintball, waterparks, and the beach/lake.

Conroe offers a lot of fun activities close to home. Waterparks, Children’s Museum, Market Street shopping/movies, resorts, and of course Lake Conroe.

Wet n Wild SplashTown is located in Spring-just a short 15 minute drive with tube rentals, cabanas, a Junior area for the younger set, and wild slides for the more adventuresome. A little further is Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Galveston. This could be an overnight with Moody Gardens, a boat cruise, and the new Pleasure Pier. The Pleasure Pier is on the beach with restaurants, carnival games, and rides. All great summer fun activities that can be a day or longer.

La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa is located in Montgomery on Lake Conroe. The resort has many options to relax and enjoy the scenery including tennis, Aqua Park, miniature golf, daily Kids Camp, Bingo, beach volleyball, dodgeball, hula hoop competition, movie night, dining, and a beautiful golf course.

The Woodlands Resort in the beautiful wooded Woodlands area has the Forest Oasis Waterscape Park with Dive-In Movies, waterslides, and a lazy river. Rent a bike and tour nature on the many bike paths adjacent to the resort. With four restaurants are on site, both indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and 36 holes of championship golf, there is plenty to do!

Of course there is always Lake Conroe! Rent a pontoon boat, jet ski, or even the newest attraction-Dryft Cycle Boats. Paddle along until you are ready to stop and eat at Pappa’s on the Lake! There are public beaches right across from Pappas too!

The Children’s Museum in The Woodlands is not be missed for the younger set. The museum is close enough to offer a short time of both planned hands on exploring and regular calendar activities to keep the short interest span of children under the age of 7.
